COMPLICITY IS A TRIBAL HALLMARK

COMPLICITY IS A TRIBAL HALLMARK

Because of our superior intelligence we are the only species on the entire planet, one out of millions, that has evolved totally differently.  Eventually managing to leave the natural world behind and replace it with artifice.  Living off the fruits of the Earth, rather than contributing.  Disrespectful towards all the lifeforms that we share the planet with, mindless to the damage we inflict on remaining natural resources, but also complicit in the eradication of ‘lesser’ human tribes.  It has taken place on every continent and in every culture.  Nobody is exempt or can claim to be innocent.

Complicity is defined in the dictionary as: association or participation in or as if in a wrongful act.  Nations and cultures have been complicit in heinous acts of genocide and ethnic cleansing and have been complicit in excusing acts of mass killings and atrocious, discriminatory behaviors.  No Mea-Culpa and no apologies.  Every misstep is followed by a giant whitewashing which allows nations and cultures to get away with murder.  Why write about it?  We continue to engage in these kinds of deplorable acts.  Any visible minority can be targeted at any time and it is perpetrated by nations who use their superior position to ignore any kind of protest or condemnation.

Might doesn’t make it right.

Russia versus Ukraine, Israel versus the Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, the United States versus Venezuela.  And in the Amazon the last remaining native Indians are struggling to stay alive, threatened through forced assimilation or killed indiscriminately.  Examples galore, past and present.  Why?  It is not always about pure selfish interests, monetary or territorial gain, but for the simple reason that they are different.  Entire tribes and cultures eradicated because they’re simple not like us.

Complicity is about staying silent when we should be speaking up.

Might silences opposition.

It is accomplished through economic clout and strength in numbers and military capability and superiority.  It leaves aggressors with the impression that they can do as they please because the opposition is weak and ineffectual.  Are we standing up to Russia and the US?  In Gaza an entire population has been systematically displaced.  Homes destroyed.  An economy in tatters.  Tens of thousands of innocent civilians killed or forced into starvation and living in tattered tents and shelters.  Crimes against humanity.  Not a single diplomatic mechanism has been able to stop this outrage and the crimes committed.  Some of the nations involved—the worst offenders—are our allies.

We are complicit by keeping our mouths shut.  None of us act or react unless we’re forced to and left with no other choice.  Useless handwringing has become the hallmark of a toothless United Nations.  Political grandstanding and the culprits stand back laughing because they damn well know that none of the members have the balls to stop them.

Complicity is one of humanity’s worst attributes.  All of us are guilty as charged yet never condemned or taken to court.  The International Court in Den Hague only sits in session when they finally get to lay their hands on a wanted war criminal because the person in question has run out of hiding places.  Putin is a wanted criminal, but even if he flew to Den Hague, would anyone have the balls to arrest him?

When there is no pushback there are no consequences.

Trump has allowed his army to obliterate Venezuelan vessels ‘suspected’ of carrying drugs.  Seizing oil tankers ‘suspected’ of carrying sanctioned oil.  It’s about intimidation and pushing buttons to see what America can get away with.  Does Venezuela have the means to push back?  They’re left with a lot of verbal bravado, waving placards and vowing to fight back.  In reality they have very little to punch back with.  We’re right back to an old colonial tactic of picking off the weakest and then move on to all the others; power, control, exploitation. Neo-colonialism American style.

Fascism is back with a vengeance; substitute Sudetenland, Austria and the Rhineland for Greenland, Canada and Venezuela.  Land and resources.  You take what you want and who is going to stop you?  Substitute Lebensraum with Manifest Destiny and the Monroe Doctrine.

Trump is sending an envoy to Greenland whose sole mission is to bring that country into America’s fold.  Canada has been raised again as a target to become the 51st State.  This is about territorial expansion, grabbing resources and not having to pay for anything.  Trump, America’s new Hitler, leading the charge to expand America’s Lebensraum.  A narcissistic fascist fronting for a cabal of extremists who want to stave off America’s descent into financial ruin.  Showtime.  Who dares stopping us?  Flexing America’s muscles in the wake of trade distraction, tariffs and global disarray.  Led by an arrogant bully and a coterie of handpicked incompetents and fellow psychopaths, all of them aiding and abetting in the destruction of the nation.  All of them crying wolf and hoping that the world will blink.

Complicity denies reality and it doesn’t like facts.

America is in an economic mess of its own making.  Borrowing for decades to keep up the pretense of being a powerhouse and a global leader.  Throughout history desperate nations have attacked others to hide the fact that morally and ethically they are bankrupt.  With economic failure following close on its heels.  The complicity that comes shining through here is an American public either going along with this sordid tale of so-called injustice and threats or staying silent, and their silence only adding to the complicity.

What drives it?  Why are these scenarios repeated over and over again?  It is one of the reasons why I wrote Energy & Origin.  We’re saddled with a dysfunctional brain and the dichotomy lies between knowing and acknowledging.  Christianity came up with the concept of a free will, which is nothing more than a handy way out when the proverbial shit hits the fan and you want to point accusatory fingers.  In reality it has nothing to do with an angry God disappointed in the behavior of its finest creation (supposedly that would be us).  The entire universe is ruled by forces that simply are.  No specific plan, no morality or ethics involved, nor an awareness with emotions or feelings.  It doesn’t matter how hard we try to resist this reality.  We’re controlled by energy and momentum, the two driving forces of the universe and what takes place doesn’t follow a prescribed plan.  No motives involved.  No rationale.  Only unpredictability.

The superior intake and use of energy predicates how well a species will do and momentum is a relentless force.  We’re driven onward by forces as old as the universe.  None of us are in control, never have been and never will be.

Competition for food, water and territory is just as fierce in the natural world as it is in the artificial world humans have created for themselves.  Energy is not just food and water, it is also about access to resources, superior technologies and education; everything a nation or tribe needs to succeed.  Reality is a primordial need to succeed where others fail and any sign of weakness spells defeat.  It is not about fairness because basically life is not fair, never was and never will be.

Energy made life possible.  Life is energy.  Energy needs are constant as energy dissipates.  This is the reality created by energy and momentum.

It induces within us conflicting urges and even when marginally threatened we will react decisively and with force to protect the integrity of the tribe, its power, domination and control.

After two brutal world wars, America emerged as the new global superpower, replacing England and Europe.  They voluntarily relinquished their roles and submitted to American hegemony.  There was a new emperor in town, powerful, benevolent and financially lucrative and supportive.  Don’t bite the hand that feeds and protects you.  Nobody dared raise the sad truth that Europe suffered from historical combat fatigue.  Nearly two millennia of non-stop conflicts and wars.  From the ancient Roman Empire right up to the Balkan conflicts and everything in between.  The uselessness of war has finally set in and none of them want to resume the battle cries.

America, other than a bloody Civil War, has never suffered from a massive invasion by superior forces capable of inflicting horrendous suffering and destruction.  Sometimes geographical isolation comes in handy.  Why refer to us as dysfunctional when it comes to brain power?  Our rise to prominence (in a technical sense and achievements) has not coincided with an intellectual maturity that places an emphasis on responsibility towards others, on the kind of respect that includes the protection and preservation of all lifeforms and that pertains to other tribes and cultures as well.  To ‘lesser’ people!

Three little monkeys!  With eyes, ears and mouths taped shut.

What we have done to ourselves and others has been caused by a total lack of understanding and appreciation of the responsibility that accompanies a higher form of intelligence.  Hence the dysfunctional.  Superior only qualifies if that intelligence is actually beneficial in understanding impact and acknowledging consequences.  Knowing is part and parcel of complicity as in knowing better, but looking the other way.  We continue to act according to instinctive and primordial behaviors and that includes a genetic code that doesn’t allow for weakness.

Europe has learned the hard way that after two millennia of conflicts that the urge to dominate and act superior has come at a huge cost and that all those wars and conflicts have not led to everlasting peace and harmony between nations.  The fact that we can maim, kill and destroy remotely and with great effectiveness and devastation doesn’t mean that what we inflict on each other has changed, nor has the intent.

Complicity is a tribal hallmark and is one of our worst attributes.

We have embedded complicity in everything we do and believe in.  It’s all about excusing bad behaviors.

That dysfunctional brain of ours is also responsible for the widespread belief that a single, divine source was responsible for the creation of the universe and with typical human hubris we have placed ourselves and that divine source in a desirable position at the center of the universe.  I purposely placed one before the other as the obvious explanation for an ordained and special purpose is a man-made one and therefore everything that follows is highly suspect as well.  Complicity plays a huge part in this because it has allowed humanity to get away with murder and a host of other dubious and destructive activities and behaviors.  ‘In the name of’ an awful lot of bad things get whitewashed on a daily basis.

That we’re an accidental byproduct of the cosmos is just unthinkable or that the universe follows its own laws of physics and that the driving forces are energy and momentum.  I have explained in my novel Energy & Origin that without those two elements the universe wouldn’t exist.  Nothing in the universe is ever static and permanent.  It is totally random and unpredictable.  Our dysfunctional brain and overactive imagination are clear evidence, not of a purposeful design and intent, but as that of a species that follows the same natural laws, instincts and behaviors of all living species on our planet.  But none of them show any evidence of putting a more positive spin on their existence.

Feel free to comment or share.  Trying to keep a subject like this short and to the point is difficult, but I have tried.
